The Smell of Road Rage
MorningNewsBeat.com published an article today about a British study regarding how smells affect road rage. It found that fast food smells, like cheeseburgers, “can actually cause road rage in drivers who suddenly get hungry and need food to alleviate what in essence is a chemical reaction.” Not surprisingly, smells like peppermint, cinnamon, and coffee have a calming effect and make people more attentive to their driving. According to the article, “one of the results of this study is that car manufacturers may decide to design car systems that will counteract certain smells so that drivers are not distracted.”
Smell censoring?
Maybe this is a band-aid for the symptom, not the problem. My vote is for anger management classes. Or maybe an ever-present tray in my car that magically refills with snacks.
Anyways, I’m sure that the fast food chains will have something to say about it if anything ever happens with this—I’m sure that the Burger King down the street isn’t accidentally blowing hamburger smells my way as I drive by.

I would like to buy more food (fast) that has a non-fast food, greasy "smell" to it. Even Starbucks drinks are slightly more pleasant due to the aroma. Not the coffee though...I don't like it's burnt smell.
