Need a recipe? Try Google Cooking
To all those poor souls out there that keep emailing us in hopes that we’re connected with the Food Network, I have an answer to your prayers. Google cooking is a new twist on the recipe search. Not that Google cooks the food for you—which would be great—but it helps you find a recipe that combines those ingredients that have been hanging out in your pantry for a while.
Can’t figure out something to cook for dinner, but you still have food sitting in your pantry or refrigerator? Never fear! Pick a few ingredients that you’d like to use, type those words into the Google search engine, along with the word “recipes,” and it will pull up some tasty (and some not so tasty) options for you. The novelty of this idea comes from the fact that it starts with the ingredients, rather than the recipe. It’s genius, of course, for those of us that aren’t blessed with the talent of “just throwing something together.”
The Wall Street Journal has some suggestions on maximizing your Google cooking experience:
TO WEED OUT the more ghastly recipes, Google cooks can employ any number of shortcuts.
epicurious.com
allrecipes.com
cookinglight.com
recipeland.com
williams-sonoma.com
recipezaar.com
foodtv.com
Evidently allrecipes.com has 30,000 recipes and a similar ingredients-to-recipes search function. However, those with a sense of adventure should stick to the Google search engine. Although I haven’t tried this yet, I’d love to hear your success stories. We’ll hold an unofficial Food Channel competition to see who comes up with the wackiest-but-still-tasty concoctions. What did you find?

I am looking for a recipe that Paula, the southern cook, on the Food channel had printed in a magazine. I can't remember the magazine, but the recipe was a pumpkin pie recipe with apple butter. anyone know!!!!
On Dec 4 at 11:19 PM said:
This is her recipe
1 cup apple butter
1 cup fresh or canned pumpkin
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
3 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Sweetened whipped cream, for garnish
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Combine apple butter, pumpkin, sugar, salt and spices in a bowl. Stir in eggs. Gradually add milk and mix well. Pour into pie shell. Bake for about 40 minutes or until set.
Cook's Notes:
-If the crust begins to burn, place tin foil around the crust and lower the temperature of the oven.
-A tasty topping for this pie is praline pecans.

6 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup slivered almonds, chopped fine
2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 egg white
1 teaspoon water
Glaze:
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
4 teaspoons milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, almond extract, and sugar until fluffy. Fold half of the chopped almonds into the cream cheese mixture. Separate 1 can of dough and assemble into 4 rectangles. Firmly press the perforations to seal. Press or roll each piece of dough to form a 7 by 4-inch rectangle, and spread each with about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling to within 1/4-inch of the edges. Starting at the short end, roll each rectangle tightly into a cylinder. Repeat with the other can of dough and remaining filling.
Place on a plate, cover with plastic wrap, and chill until firm, about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F while the rolls are chilling.
Remove from the refrigerator and cut each roll into 4 slices. Place 1/2-inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. In a small bowl, combine the egg white with 1 teaspoon water. Brush over the swirls. Sprinkle with the remaining chopped almonds. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until light brown.
While the swirls are baking, combine the glaze ingredients in a small bowl. Cool the swirls for 3 minutes on wire racks placed over a sheet of waxed paper. Drizzle the icing over the warm swirls.

I found the recipe on food network after googling it. Here it is.
Paula Deen's Peanutbutter cake
Cake:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
Peanut butter (at least 1/2 cup; if using more, decrease shortening by an equal amount)
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs
Frosting:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup peanuts, salted
2 cap-fulls vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F if baking with a metal dish; 325 degrees F if using a glass dish.
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Add graham cracker crumbs, peanut butter, shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat mixture with electric mixer on low until moistened, and then beat on medium for 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat for 1 minute. Bake in greased 9-inch by 13-inch pan for 30 to 35 minutes. Do not remove from pan to cool.
For the frosting: mix all of the ingredients together. Pour into a saucepan and bring mixture to a boil. Boil for 1 minute. Cool slightly. With a wooden spoon handle, poke a few holes in the cake, and then pour the warm frosting over it.
