Fourthmeal- newly discovered meal previously known only to drunken college students

4thmeal02.gif
So I was at Taco Bell the other day. I usually drive through, but I actually went in this time. As I sat down enjoying my Spicy Bean and Cheese Burrito from the Value Menu, I paused as I noticed my tray liner, announcing the creation of a new meal, Fourthmeal, the meal between dinner and breakfast! “Hmmm,” I wondered aloud, getting some annoyed looks from my fellow patrons. I grew up in the days of 3 meals a day chosen from only 4 food groups, no snacking over the age of 7, so this extra meal, I was skeptical. Sure, during college I was not above the 2:00 a.m. cheese fries (with a 1/2 Garlic Cheeseburger, or GCB, on my campus) , but it was sort of on the downlow, as if the calories didn’t count if you ate them while you should be sleeping.

Here, it’s being advertised as if it’s perfectly OK, encouraged even, to eat a fourth meal, in the middle of the night no less. In fact, they give you your personality type based on what your Fourthmeal order is. Let’s take me, for example, I’m a burrito girl. Here’s what they say:

The BURRITO is a sign of honor and sophistication. With its classic shape and combination of ingredients, it’s considered a role model among its peers. Late night, the BURRITO is usually responsible for taking care of others.

No truer words were ever spoken, if I do say so myself. Next Fourthmeal, I think I’m going to try “The Gregarious Nachos- A sign of youth and exuberance. The multiple layers of tortilla chips and toppings represent an outgoing and energetic approach to life.” With these dudes, maybe I can skip the Red Bull and stay up past my bedtime!

What’s your opinion of Fourthmeal? Here to stay or going away?

Here to stay!! But not exclusively at "the bell"...we want food when we want food. Don't tell me when to eat b-fast, lunch, or dinner...just give me the opportunity to buy food when I want it.

I went to try out my own Fourthmeal on Wed. night in St. Louis at around 10:30. The dining room closes at 10:00, while the drive through is open till 3:00. What's up with that?

In response to fat tax comment, I think we should start a stupidity tax for people like that. People that narrow-minded and ignorant raise the cost of health insurance because undoubtedly they are too dumb to know how to breath and regularly have to be rushed to an ER for oxygen.

I believe the only reason its suggesting to eat a 4th meal late at night is because they need the business to pay the people who need to work at those hours.Well it is cheep!

Apparently Taco Bell hasn’t heard heard of the obesity problem that America is having...
I think that’s a horrible ad campaign... "Hey fattys! Don’t forget to eat your fourthmeal!"

I think it's a gread idea for those who will actually take care of themselves and exercise on a daily basis. There are people like myself who could eat 10 meals a day and still wouldn't put on a pound... healthy much? probably not. Six small meals a day is better than 4 huge meals.

You are all idiots six small meals a day spaced every three to four hours is the key to controlling your metabolism!
And the taco salad is like the worst choice...

I'd like to address the person who would eat the Taco Salad and a water, well, have you ever checked the amount of FAT in a taco salad? 33 grams fat, 13 grams saturated fat. You'd be better off eating a hamburger.
