In Search of the Best Bread Pudding
If anyone has a great recipe for Bread Pudding, let us know. In the meantime, this is the one we're making for Christmas:
Bread Pudding
16 slices old bread - use a comibination of leftover cinnamon rolls, cinnamon bread, or regular white or whole wheat slices
1 ¾ cup half and half
8 oz. dried cranberries or other dried fruit
1/2 cup mini-chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts
1 chopped apple
¼ cup butter, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 t. cinnamon
¼ t. nutmeg
¼ t. cloves
1/8 t. ginger
Combine and bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. Or, put mixture in crock pot and cook on low for about 4 hours.
Serve with sauce. Cook together:
One stick butter
One cup brown sugar
2-3 T. evaporated milk
