Dessert Trends 2011

Pretzel M&M’S & Chocolate Chunk Blondie Bars with Sea Salted Caramel Sauce

Here's dessert trend evidence you can bring to life in your own kitchen: these blondie bars are right in step with the Sweet & Salty Dessert Trend.

Want to show your family how trendy you are?  Then update your brownie recipe repertoire with a delicious brownie bar loaded with lots of contemporary appeal with these chunky bumpy lumpy thick-cut blondie bars. They feature colorful bits of salty-sweet chopped Pretzel M&M’S and chocolate chunks topped with a drizzle of dark chocolate and more chopped Pretzel M&M’S, plus ribbons of golden sea-salted caramel sauce.

To prepare, add chopped Pretzel M&M’S and semi-sweet chocolate chunks to prepared blondie bar batter.

Season the top of batter lightly with flake sea salt and bake.

Top cooled bars with a zig-zag drizzle of melted semi-sweet chocolate chips heated briefly in microwave.

Sprinkle chopped Pretzel M&M'S over dark chocolate and top with ribbons of warm caramel sauce (comprised of prepared caramels heated over a double boiler until melted) lightly dusted with flaked sea salt.

Serve cut into hearty bars as an impressive hand-held dessert or serve a la mode topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
