A new soon-to-be-released guidebook just might become a serious rival to ZAGAT in the restaurant guide department. Where Chef’s Eat, the Ultimate Insider’s Guide, does just what the title says: it lets you in on which restaurants chefs choose to dine when they’re not eating at their own places.
The sprawling, 700-page guide covers all the major cities of the world, offering more than 2,000 recommendations from more than 400 chefs, including such culinary luminaries as David Chang, Jamie Oliver, Rene Redzepi, Sean Brock, Eric Ripert, Ferran Adria, Daniel Boulud, and April Bloomfield.
Where Chefs Eat is edited by Joe Warwick, restaurant writer for The Guardian in the UK. It’s categorized by country and city, and will also include "entertaining reviews, quotes from the chefs, clever maps and an easy-to-use system of organization," according to the publishers.
The volume will hit book stores in January 2013, and will also be available as an iPhone and iPad app.
Well I guess these pros would know where the best places are to grab a good meal, but I’ve got to wonder if the book will reveal that these hot shot chefs occasionally go slumming and eat at, say, Burger King or Shoney’s. Now that would be really fun to find out.
