Just when you thought America’s bacon fixation was finally over, here comes word that Jack in the Box has added a bacon shake to its menu.
Yep, it’s no joke. The San Diego-based fast food chain, with 2,200 locations in 19 states, apparently believes the bacon craze still has legs. Jack’s new sweet treat is made with bacon-flavored Torani syrup blended with vanilla ice cream.
Website The Impulsive Buy offers a taste-test review and calls the creamy creation pleasant and “not revolting.” The shake has “a mild smokiness,” and the bacon flavor is “not overpowering.” The weirdest part, the review says, is that it has a coffee-tasting finish.
The 16-ounce shake comes in at 773 calories, 40 grams of fat, and 75 grams of sugar. The larger, 24-ounce version has more than 1,000 calories.
If there’s not a Jack in the Box restaurant near you, you might want to try one of the homemade bacon milkshake recipes that can be found with a Google search. Most call for maple syrup, ice cream and, of course, bacon.
