Meet the Big Bac: A 100% Bacon Burger

Thought that bacon mania might finally have run its course? Not so fast, my friend. Leave it to those nutty people in Southern California to keep the trend sizzling and popping along.

Slater’s 50/50, a small California chain renowned for its half-bacon, half-beef burger, has upped the ante with what it calls the ’merica burger. It’s a 100% ground bacon burger topped with a sunny-side- up egg, bacon-cheddar cheese and “bacon island” dressing.

Oh, and it’s capped off with more bacon.

The ’Merica Burger will cost you $10.95 and is only available until the end of July at the three Slater’s 50/50 locations in San Diego, Anaheim and Huntington Beach.

According to a release from the chain: “The concept for Slater’s 50/50 Burgers by Design came out of a dare at a San Diego Charger’s tailgate party between owner Scott Slater and some of his San Diego State University buddies. Could a 100% ground bacon burger work? After some tweaking and perfecting (and a few small grease fires), the answer was yes.”

And, hey, you can wash that burger down with a bacon Bloody Mary the restaurant also offers. It’s made with bacon-infused vodka, bacon salt and garnished with a slice of, well, you know.

For dessert, may we suggest the warm chocolate and chopped bacon brownie that Slater’s 50/50 proudly serves.
