Stones That Keep Your Coffee or Tea Just Right

Hot & Cool Food Trends

Does it seem like your coffee or hot tea is inevitably either too hot to drink, or too cold to be tolerable?

You know how it is. When it’s first poured, it’ll burn your tongue if you try to drink it straight away. So, you let it sit for a while, and before you know it, it’s too cold.

Well, someone has finally stepped forward to solve this dilemma with a new invention they call Coffee Joulies. These are polished stainless steel “stones” you put in your drink to keep it “just right” (as Goldilocks might say).

Inside the thin, hollow stainless-steel shell is a lightweight, temperature-mitigating material. The Joulies sink to the bottom of the beverage to stay out your way when drinking. They’re made of all food-grade materials and are about half the size of a chicken’s egg.

Joulies work in two ways: First, they absorb energy from your coffee when it is too hot, cooling it down to a drinkable temperature three times faster than room temperature does. Next, the Joulies release the stored energy back into your coffee (or hot tea), keeping it in the right temperature range twice as long.

This is a brand new product, and, according to its inventors, it will get your hot drink to the correct temperature in minutes, and keep it that way for hours—when kept in a good vacuum travel mug.

This certainly fills the bill as a Hot & Cool Food Trend. It’s a Cool way to keep your coffer Hot.
