Great Fall dessert from the Culinary & Craft Center at Silver Dollar City theme park.

Ingredients

  • CRUST: 1 Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix (reserve 1 cup of mix, set aside)
  • 1 Stick of butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • FILLING: 1 16 ounce can of pumpkin
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • TOPPING: 1 cup (leftover) cake mix
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 stick butter, softened

Preparation

    CRUST: Mix well and spread mixture into a greased 9 X 13 baking pan. Do not worry about packing the mixture down so it's firm, unless you want to be able to cut this into bars.

    FILLING: Mix all ingredients together and spread the filling over the crust.

    TOPPING: Mix all topping ingredients and crumble over the filling. Bake at 350ºF for 50-60 minutes. Cool and serve with whipped cream on top.
