Derby Mint Julep

Ingredients

  • Bourbon to fill (about 1/3 cup)
  • 3 sprigs fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup shaved or crushed ice

Preparation

  1. Tear up 2 sprigs mint and drop in a chilled glass. With the back of a spoon, bruise the mint well in the bottom of the glass.
  2. Stir in simple syrup, add ice, and fill with bourbon. Stir well and top with another sprig of mint. Serve. (See "Additional Info" for Simple Syrup recipe.)
