Grandma Nehmer’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Ingredients
- 3 cups one-minute oatmeal
- 2 cups (12-ounce package) chocolate chip morsels
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 pound European-Style Butter, unsalted, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine in small bowl; flour, baking soda and salt.
- In large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture and oatmeal; stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Spread cookie batter in large, greased pan. (Grandma's pan is a heavy roasting pan 12 1/2 x 13 x 2 inches).
- Bake for 22 to 25 minutes.
- Cool for about 5 minutes, then cut into bars, remove bars from pan and cool on baking rack.
