Italian Style Meatloaf

Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • Italian sausage
  • Bread
  • Onion
  • Eggs
  • Parsley
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup minced sun dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped, fresh basil and some dried oregano

Why not bring an Italian flair to your family’s favorite meatloaf? This recipe includes Italian sausauge, mozzarella cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes to make your tried-and-true meatloaf recipe take on a new image.

Preparation

  1. Replace 1/3 of the ground beef called for with sweet Italian sausage meat.
  2. To your standard ingredients—like bread, onion, eggs, parsley, liquids and seasonings—add in about 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup minced sun dried tomatoes, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, 1/2 cup chopped, fresh basil and some dried oregano.
  3. Using red wine in place of some of the liquid in your recipe would also be tasty.
  4. Mix well with your other ingredients and place into a loaf pan.
  5. Brush the top of the meatloaf with more of the tomato sauce and bake per your regular instructions (about an hour at 350€F).
