Why Try? This is a great use for those extra tomatoes you may have from your summer garden or the farmers market.

Foodie Byte: This sauce is great for adding a blast of flavor to turkey and chicken burgers that can otherwise be a bit bland at times.

Preparation

  1. In a large skillet heat butter over medium heat and add onions and brown sugar until well browned, about 30 minutes.
  2. Stir in garlic, ginger and tomatoes and cook about 3 minutes.
  3. Add hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and wine vinegar.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cook stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Let cool to room temperature. This will keep covered and refrigerated for up to 1 month.
