Lusciously light cream, richly scented with strawberry-orange flavored Liqueur, adorns ruby-red strawberries creating a dessert so simple, yet so luxurious.

Why Try? When strawberries are at their peak ripeness, the perfect way to serve them is accented but not overpowered, as in this recipe.

Foodie Byte: The orange liqueur cream is very simple to make with only four ingredients, but is decadent served over any type of berry or even over a slice of cake. Try making updated strawberry shortcake by layering the strawberry-orange liqueur cream with pound cake or angel food cake. This luscious cream is also great as part of a berry trifle.

Preparation

  1. In a double-boiler over medium heat, whisk yolk and sugar together until very thick and creamy. Take off heat and whisk in strawberry-orange liqueur. Cover with plastic wrap and let cool.
  2. Whip heavy cream until thick and whisk about a cup of it into the egg mixture to lighten it. Spoon the rest of the whipped cream onto the egg mixture and gently fold in until incorporated.
  3. Dollop the strawberry-orange liqueur cream over individual dishes of strawberries or serve family style in one big bowl. Enjoy.
