Which foods are in your “comfort zone”?

You know, the ones you crave after a tough day in the cubicle, or when the cold and flu season has gotten the best of you. With some people, it’s a steaming plate of spaghetti and meat sauce, with others it might be a bowl of tomato soup or some mac’n’cheese. One of our Food Channel chefs said her ultimate comfort food has always been tuna fish sandwiches.

This week we’re here to serve up some recipes for classic comfort foods, but with some simple upgrades that give them fresh new appeal. Take our grilled cheese sandwich recipe for example. In place of the usual American cheese we all grew up with, our chef suggests tasty white Cheddar, then tosses in some roasted red peppers for added kick.

We hope you’ll find comfort in these Comfort Food Updates. Try them and let us know what you think.

Plus we’d love to hear what trips your comfort food trigger. What are your all-time favorites? Send us a note in the Comments section below.

Ice Cream is my ultimate comfort food. There is something about eating from a carton on a rough day! Although, not great for the waistline.
