News from the NRA Show

Most Americans think “media mogul” when the name Ted Turner is mentioned, so it may come as a surprise that this outspoken entrepreneur has had a lifelong commitment to environmental causes.

In an exclusive interview with The Food Channel, Turner discussed the impetus for his interest in the environment as well as the success he has enjoyed with his project to re-populate America’s bison population. George McKerrow, Jr., Turner’s business partner and CEO and President of Ted’s Montana Grill restaurants, also joined the conversation to discuss the restaurant chain’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

On his tour of the NRA Show floor, Turner also stopped in by the Coca Cola Foods booth, where several “do it yourself tools” for increasing sustainability were the topic of conversation. Mark Miles, with Coca Cola Foodservice, said, “Restaurants use five times as much energy as anyone else in the commercial arena. We offer a three tiered program to help them do more to protect the environment.” Those tiers start with simple steps and move into a thorough “A to Z approach to improvement.
