Chain Offers Freebie with Coffee Purchase on April 15

Posted by Editor from The Food Channel®

Poet T.S. Eliot famously proclaimed April to be “the cruelest month.” We’re guessing he was talking about tax time or maybe all those dreary rainy days. Too bad T.S. couldn’t be around to enjoy this month’s Tax Day Deal at Dunkin’ Donuts. Surely the offer of a free donut would have cheered him up.

The world’s largest coffee and baked goods chain is wishing its customers a less taxing Tax Day by offering all customers a free donut with the purchase of any size cup of Dunkin’ Donuts’ hot coffee. On April 15, customers, regardless of whether they owe taxes or are entitled to a refund, can stop by any participating Dunkin’ Donuts shop nationwide and select from among a wide variety of delicious donuts.

“We hope that Dunkin’ Donuts can make Tax Day a little more palatable for tax filers and coffee lovers by offering them a delicious free donut. We know Americans work hard for their money and this is our small way of showing our appreciation,” said Frances Allen, Dunkin’ Donuts Brand Marketing Officer."

Dunkin’ Donuts sells more than one billion cups of hot and iced coffee every year. In 2007, AOL.com readers cited Dunkin’ Donuts as the “Best Overall” coffee.

New “Oven Toasted” Menu

In addition to its wide variety of beverages and baked goods, Dunkin’ Donuts recently launched an all-day Oven-Toasted menu, featuring new menu items, including flatbread sandwiches, personal pizzas, and hash browns. The menu items are now available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts locations nationwide. The chain says its shops have received an entirely new cooking platform, using patented technologies, to deliver the “Oven-Toasted” result, enhancing the taste and quality of both new and existing menu items.

Does coffee go well with donuts? that's like asking "Are AI fans on their cell phones after 9pm on Tuesdays?" free minute, free votes! To further enhance your viewing (and dialing) pleasure, might I suggest to the very active group here a newly updated product of an old product that was already excellent when used properly? No, I am not talking about eating the cereal box, instead of what is inside (although the Mythbusters are lately). I am talking about the Bialetti Electric Espresso Coffee Maker, circa 2008. If you type this into any search engine, you will find a new design that puts the start switch on the base where it can't get wet, and not in the actual espresso maker. It also will keep the espresso warm for 20 min after it is finished, after it has completely turned itself off. What a bonus, when you need to be 'hands free' for dialing, or when perhaps your hands are already in use with donuts. For about $100 USD, you can have this electric espresso machine that hopefully won't fail like the old model did when people ran the electric mechanism under the faucet, even though the manual stated clearly: "non fanno immergere in acqua" "Sie tauchen nicht in Wasser" "to nie zanurzać w wodzie" and " 何をしても水に沈める !!! " But something must be 'lost in translation' because the Goooogle back-trans (BT) of the Japanese above (if it made it in the BBcode JPN ascii enablement) comes to roughly: "What a dunk in the water !!! " Despite all of this "Tower of Babel" problem of the world, Bialetti is pressing on, or more accurately es-pressing on with business. Foamy milk on top is recommended as well....and you don't need a steamer, just microwave some milk very hot and whip it with an inexpensive battery operated mini-wisk ($5 USD) for a minute or so...and there you have it.... you are ready to have a lovely coffee while reading your favorite American Idol blog (americanidol, idolchatter, idolexpose, etc...) cafe style coffee made while following the manufacturers directions. If you can take your hands off the donuts for a few minutes, its worth it!
