Creating Your Own Ice Cream Flavor

A Step-by-Step Recipe Photo Essay

Posted by Chef from The Food ChannelĀ®

It’s easy to create your own customized ice cream creations. Our Food Channel Step-by-Step Recipe Photo Essay will show you how to transform your favorite store-bought vanilla ice cream into your “secret recipe” Espresso Ice Cream in minutes. (You could also try this with nearly any of your favorite ingredients such as cinnamon or candy crumbles.)

Remove a half-gallon of vanilla ice cream from the freezer and let soften slightly (about ten minutes). When it has softened enough, spoon it out of the carton and into a large bowl.

Soften the ice cream further by stirring with a large spoon or spatula.

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons finely ground espresso beans into the ice cream.

Mix in the espresso thoroughly until it is evenly distributed into the ice cream.

Once the espresso is completely mixed in, scoop up the ice cream…

…and return the ice cream to the carton and refreeze.

When ready to serve, keep the ice cream on ice, and serve with your favorite toppings, such as cherries, chocolate sauce, nuts, etc.

Thanks for making this so easy to follow. I've been looking at ice cream makers but need to wait a bit longer, so until then, this will curb my home-made fix!
